For the ultimate hamburger. Choose the right amount of fat content. Choose a leaner cut for the burgers you make at home, that has 15 percent or less fat. Burger patties should be cooked until well done so all of bacteria in the middle of the hamburger is killed. Also try and use healthy low carb-tempeh, miso, or organic soy buns instead of carbohydrate loaded hamburger buns.




To start wash hands then handle the meat with cold wet hands. It helps the meat from getting melted, also try not to bruise the meat. When you handle it gently it helps the burger from getting tough. It is a good idea to put the formed patties in the fridge for an hour before you grill them. It will help them from crumbling on the grill. Also mix egg whites into patty mix so that they won't crumble.The patties should be about 3/4-inch thick.  Preheat the grill for medium-high heat (350-375 degrees). A healthy way to cook them is to sear the patties to get the char-broiled look and taste then move them into medium-high indirect heat. Never smash them it will release all of the juices and make the burger dry. You can also grill burgers on grill grate for the suggested time to avoid flare ups.You can also cook them in pan on top of the stove for the suggested time over direct medium high heat. Because carbons that get on the meat after flare ups cause cancer. Always cook the burger tell it is well done and the juices that come out of it are clear.You can always place the patties in a 350 degree oven for 15-18 minutes depending on how thick they are.
